It's always great to hear about new people being introduced to shooting sports - young people in particular. That's why it was an amazing treat to be fortunate enough to host a group of people from work and any spouses/kids that wanted to come out.
It all started with a casual conversation with one of the girls at work. We we chatting about shooting in general, when she made a comment like "I'd love to do that someday." - to which I replied "Let's go!" As soon as she realised that I wasn't kidding, she got all excited and we decided to go out to the range on Saturday (3 days later).
About 20 minutes later, she called and asked if her friend Toni could come, too - to which I replied "the more, the merrier". Pretty soon a bunch of people were inquiring either for themselves, their spouses, or their kids. All were welcome, so I set about organizing a FunShoot for that Saturday.
A fellow CGN friend and I supplied all the shotguns. We had at least one of each type (U/O, auto, pump, SXS, & single) with a good selection of 12ga. and 20 ga.
In the end 17 people showed up!!! (including 4 kids)
Everybody had a great time. So much so that they want me to do it again for those who couldn't make it on short notice. I'm also going to organize a FunShoot at the pistol range.
If you haven't hosted a Funshoot for newbies in your life, you might consider it - I think it was more fun for me than for the guests.
