Ambi 1911 thumb safety tjat is not enlarged/extended?

Howdy,

I bought a Colt 1911 for traditional Wild Bunch matches. Thing is I am a lefty and there is no ambi safety. Rules say you cannot have an enlarged safety, but does not say that an ambi safety is not allowed. My interpretation is an ambi safety is allowed along as it stays to similar dimensions to the original right hand safety tab that is on it now.

My Googlefoo is failing me in my search for such a beast. Does anyone know if something like this is made? If so, you know where to get one?

the one on my canuck 1911 is not enlarged if i compare with a colt or dan wesson.

Check Dlask’s website, I’ve bought an ambi 1911 safety from them before. I don’t remember it being an extended one.

I am a lefty and I never bothered with an ambi safety on my wild bunch 1911 because you start wild bunch matches in Condition 3 with the 1911.

Something else to think about, some ambi safetys will not be as thin as the stock safety, I'm lefthand and thought I need one too , but found it to rub the base of my thumb.

If the levers are too large, a Dremel grinder will fix that easily.
