I'm new to the 1911 platform, and lefty, and so far I know I'm gonna install an ambi safety, looks like a drop-in-go installation (minor fitting perhaps, was thinking about the wilson combat from brownells)

Would there be a possibility to get an ambi mag release or a fitted left handed mag release using the current pieces?

Most lefties use the trigger finger to release the mag. There used to be ambi buttons out there, I think Safari Arms made one...not sure what is available now.

I'm a lefty, and have ZERO use for a lefty mag release on my 1911's. The trigger finger is much easier and just as fast.

Ambi safety - YES
Ambi/Left mag release - RESOUNDING NO!!!!

Just try it for a bit, and you'll get used to it. Money is better spent on ammo and mags. :)

I'm right handed, and have switched the mag release on my Smith M&P to the right hand side of the gun (left hand shooters thumb side). I wish I could do that with my 1911 without add-on parts - it is much faster to hit the button with trigger/middle finger and it can be done without moving the pistol in your hand.
