I ordered this pistol from Ellwood Epps for $329. It was kind of an impulse buy. I've been wanting a 1911 style .22 for a while so I can practice more without the high cost of .45 acp.
Anyway, after I ordered it I started reading reviews, and started regretting my descision. The pistol arrived today. Fit and finish were decent, I really like the wood grips, I'm still a little leery about the durability of the "Chiappalloy" the pistol's made of.
Field stripped, and lubed it and off to the range I go.
I had really low expectations. Started off with 50 Win expert: 2 ftf, and 3 stovepipes. 50 CCI maxi mags: no failures. 50 CCI Velocitors: no failures. An entire box of Win 555: no failures!
I was very very pleasantly surprised. I wasn't shooting so much for group size as much as testing reliability. With the 555's I tried double taps, limp wristing, even shot it upside down. Next time out I'll see what kind of groups I can get.
