So I'm trying to find a new mount for an optic on my AR. The optic is a sightron SIII 6-24x50. I've been looking at the American defense recon mounts, only issue is I can only find the H mount in stock which is the highest of their mounts. So I know the H mount will technically work but I'm worried it will be to high. Does anyone have any experience with the H mount or should I just wait for the normal recon mount?

This is the AR it will be going on.

this a standard recon mount with a S3 8-32-56

Not an AR I know but it gives you a better idea. If Brownells is out of stock you can buy it directly from ADM

Hmm, I tried to order a scope mount from brownells awhile ago and I was informed it could not be shipped out of the states. Didn't think ADM would ship either but I will give it a shot. Thanks for your help.

You can order directly from American Defense as well, I got the strait-up LOW mount for my bolt action rifle directly from them. You get nailed on the GST/Duties as I think they use UPS or Fedex or something.

If you have the full length of rail to play with, why concern yourself with a mount with cantilever features?
Your's and 'Dilligafs' bolt gun would be better served with a set of high rings. Near, Badger,Nightforce and a host of others all offer excellent quality rings that will be cheaper too.

Don't get me wrong -I have several of the ADM mounts, and think they are quality products, but I Only use the Recon cantilevers on rifles that need it.

Yes, UPS ####ed me on the duty for a couple screws for my mount. But their service is outstanding and it is a great product. CSC has a few I believe

That's a good point, I would still like the quick detach feature as I still really enjoy shooting with irons, so some good back up irons will also be on my list. I'll have to look at some of the non cantilever mounts.

If you have or are thinking of going with rings, attachment to the rail should be done with a quality torque wrench so as to provide repeatability. As good or better than quick release mounts, and an added bonus is the torque is the same if switching from rail to rail, whereas if you change from gun to gun with the QT mount, you are invariably looking at adjusting the tension on the mount.
I use a Seekonk BT-2L calibrated for 68in. Lbs.

Both arms east and red deer shooting centre are out of stock, I'm going to see if target sports has any. Might just have to order it from brownells or direct from ADM.

The ideal height for your application is about 1.5" ( Larue SPR mount and standard ADM ) . The H mount is a bit high ( IIRC its 2" ) for your application and you will find it annoying

As already mentioned by another poster unless you need cantilever don't bother with it .

Both the Larue and AMD has surprising amount of spring when you push down on the front of the scope . IMO this does NOT affect accuracy ( I have the 2 Larue SPRs and a AMD ) but why cantilever if you don't have to

Both AMD and Larue makes non cantilevered

I find that the quick detatch is nice but I would rather have cross bolt ( Badger , TPS , Nighforce , NEAR etc ) rings . Can't see when I have to quickly drop off my scope and flip up my irons on a rifle that has a traditional magnified scope

I always have a Seekonk 65 in lb preset wrench in my kit

If you are looking at non quick detach, then look at the Nightforce Unimount or the Near Alpha Mount

The Unimounts are 20MOA slope, the Near Alpha is whatever you can imagine !

Here is a Near Alpha 34mm with 28MOA slope . I like supporting local businesses and Richard Near is great to deal with . He's in Camrose AB BTW

I ordered my ADM Recon X mount direct from ADM.

I stipulated regular shipping not by courier. Took about two weeks but I did not have duty or customs to pay.

There are several forum supporting dealers that have ADM / vortex mounts (ADM makes it for vortex): One Shot Tactical & SFRC to name a few. You want to keep it as low as possible. The pic shown sporting a 56mm obj would indicate you can make do with the standard height mount.

Everyone seems to be out of stock of any 30mm ADM mount. I've looked at the vortex mounts as well. Interesting note that they're built by ADM.
