I was in Scarborough today and stopped off at the Canadian Tire on Kingston Rd. It's the first Canadian Tire I have been to that has had American Eagle .22s. I bought some of the .22 copper plated 38gr HPs. I like this ammo in 9mm and .45 but haven't tried it in .22.

Dynapoints and 333s have been my most reliable and accurate bulk .22 ammo to date. What's the scoop on the American Eagle .22s? This stuff looks like it's much better quality than either the Dynapoints or the 333s. Has anyone used it in a 10/22 or an Advantage Arms Glock .22 conversion? I am going to try it out on Wednesday.

The AE22 comes in 40 round boxes. I'll agree that it shoots very well too. The last boxes I bought were $2.29 a box plus tax.

I use American eagle a lot. Good stuff for the price. Varmint accurate. Great for plinking too.

I currently have 1 crate of 38 HP, and 1 of 40 grain solids (50 per pack instead of 40). For bolt action rifles the 40 grain seems to work very well. For my semi pistols and .22LR AR upper I use the 38 grain hollow points.

Decent stuff.

Can't find it in stock in Winnipeg. I only have about 2k left. I wish I had bought more when they were $13 at Cabelas.

The only place around here I can find the AE 38gr 400rnd bricks is at my local g-store, They sell for around $27.00 a brick.

I find the performance of the AE to be a little better than the Federal Champion bricks.... and not as good as some of the target stuff out there.

I have 3 10/22 rugers and AE & Federal bricks are wonderful in them, in fact, those are the only ammo one of my 10/22 will feed reliably. I also have a host of other semi's and a bolt and they all work really well on the AE or Federal.

Its funny but I've been shooting AE for about 4yrs, and I only discovered this Winter that they were made by federal....! lol And the only reason I found that out was I ran out and I couldn't find any more, so I had to dig out the alternative ammo, ie: the federal Bulk packs.

Cheers

This ammo works very well in all of my many rimfire rifles, I was lucky enough to have purchased a few cases of it when it was a lot less expensive than it is now. I have tried the 40gr load as well and it is good ammo as well, but I like the performance of the hollow point better on gophers.FS

These are my favorite hollow points for several reasons. They shoot awesome at 50yds in my cz452 and to precisely the same zero as the federal campion lead round nose load (510). The champions pull ahead a fair amount once you increase the range beyond 50, but these are better for gophers etc due to the hollow point. They're also fairly cheap at $20/400 at wss. Too bad the one in saskatoon doesn't stock them... I have to ask them to order it in for me.

I plan on picking up a case of these and/or the 510's in a week or so here when I'm going through Calgary.. hopefully they have em. Gopher season has started!

Today I bought 10 boxes at Peavy Mart (all they had) for $2.29 a box and 15 boxes at Crappy Tire for $2.99 a box. Nice price difference for about 1 block difference in location.
