I've got 2 ammo belts, one bought for cheap and resurrected and the other given to me by an older guy who's knees stop him from getting out in the fields so much.
I can see the point in having them for varmint cartridges but unless I was pig shooting I can't help but think that carrying 30 fullbore rounds with me was a little silly.
What're people's opinions?
I'm not talking Western Action shooting here, btw.

I use them, but my guns have either a tube mag or internal mag on my 6.5x55mm. The problem is having loose ammo around, it bang together and makes a lot of noise. I run out of pockets so keeping extra ammo in the original box will not work either. I also use them for hunting small game with the shotgun, keeps the extra round nice and close, I always hated that stock mounted ammo thing.

"TOSSERS"

HAHAHAH oh man, haven't heard that word in a while :D

We had a Aussie Divemaster that used to call all the yanks Tossers, of course they had no Idea what he was saying and thought it was the Aussie version of "buddy" for a while.. funny #### :D

I never use ammo belts. just keep the mag full and a few extra rounds in my backpack....

is this in response to the Block wanting to prohibit ammo belts.

I guess the interpretation of this could be almost any thing including rifle slings that have space for ammo, or any device that could be placed on a belt that holds ammo. Or belts like those fed into machineguns either metal or cloth. Its getting to be a slippery slope.

I use them on occasion while hunting

I fill my rifle up to capacity, then have 5 or so rounds in my fanny pack (held on a Uncle Mikes stock thingy)

Use a belt wallet with extra ten rounds. When using 30-06, 6.5x55 and .303 British size cartidges, I prevent any form for metal ratling noises from the catridge wallet by clipping five rounds together with the appropriate stripper clips.

I was going to use the term "wankers" but it's a little less socially acceptable and some people might not know what I was on about.:p
And no, woodchopper, this is not in reaction to the current unjustifiable and extremely skewed attempt to radically alter gun laws in your country.
Don't let the ###### do it to you.
Firearm related crime leapt 200% in the UK when they banned handguns and from what I've heard Blair is seriously looking at allowing them back in a limited way.
But I digress.
It is fun to be draped with rounds, even if I do look like a wanker and it's pointless.

I use them for my BP shotgun shells, but that's it . I use a stock band on my SS's that holds five extras , or put a few extras in the small pouches on the side of my fanny pack, they fit the 577 Snider rounds perfectly, four to a pouch,
