Hey just thought i would give yall a heads up , at the Kingston location right now they had 3 40mm ammo cans in stock (all demilled) but good seals and minimal rust plus a whole skid full of a darker brown coloured cans roughly the size of 50 cal with perfect seals and almost no signs of rust on the ones i checked out .. insides are perfect as well ..

Picked up a 40mm one considering you cant find them ANYWHERE around here . The 40mms are 29.99 and the 50's are 14.99 , theyre usually 20.99 but i think they have them labelled wrong .

Also double soft pistol cases for 12.99 + tax in Tan .

Well at least they don't use a hole-punch on the tongue like the supply techs do with boots that are turned in... What a waste of perfectly good boots.

All they really need to do is use acetone to remove the lot number but likely someone has created some reg. that requires taking a belt sander to the sides lol!

yeah , its very irritating for 30 dollars the least they could do is leave the freaking writing alone ..

But the paint used was crap and by the looks of things may be able to scratch it off without damaging the lettering .

Now if i can just find some 20mm ammo cans i would be VERY happy.

Geez, PA here just jacked their prices on all their ammo cans to the point of ridiculousness. A beaten up, rusted, spray painted .50 cal ammo can is NOT worth $22.99! I remember buying these things for ten bucks in like new condition not five years ago. I doubt the price of surplus has risen THAT much.

I was just there(winnipeg), looked at them, I'm not sure the appeal of using these containers, they are expensive for what you get. At these prices I suspect alot of the value comes from the cache factor

I use those red plastic dog cookie pail containers that come with the food. They seal up with silicone, and are air tight.

Just not sure how these ammo cans would be better, actually I did think of it, they seal better for in and out stuff like surplus ammo and bringing it to the range. The pails I use do seal , but don't have a rubber gasket like the ammo cans do, hence the silicone for longer term storage. These cans are perfect for surplus ammo.

Note: if you ask at Princess Auto, you can get storage pails for free. They are the pails their chains came in. Not food grade , but free

I just grabbed a 50 can 9mm can and 200 round 762 can from the saskatoon PA all markings in tact and they had a pile on the top that looked close to new with very minimal rusting. The ones on display were horrible. The lady had no problem getting the ladder and grabbing me some good ones.

believe it or not., there is big collector interest in old ammo cans now. early wood 303, and ww2 u.s. 30 cal. cans can bring big $. i wish i had of bought more from crown surplus or army/navy back in the day. btw., 30cal m1 or m1a cans are my favorite for packing ammo to the range. not too big., not too small. just right. cheers, steve in calgary.

A couple weeks ago in the Whitby Princess Auto, they had LOTS of 40mm, 50cal, and .223 ammo boxes that were NOT repainted. Some mild surface rust but decent seals. Just a heads up.

In the interests of keeping this in one thread ..

Are you / can you go onto a military base and ask them about their ammo cans .. princess auto must get them from somewhere before stocking them ?

No the army does not even let a soldier keep his brass. Much of this stuff is sold as surplus on a government website. Interesting what you will find, I saw a leopard 1 tank there for 100,000
