I have a chance to buy some surplus 7.62x54r but I do not want to buy corrosive. I have been looking on the net but finding something specific to this ammo is a little tough. The ammo is steel case FMJ with head stamp 21/82. It has red bands around the primer and where the bullet meets the casing. I take it that its 1982 and I think its non-corrosive possibly Hungarian but I am looking for a second or third or fourth opinion.

Factory 21, made in 1982.

The res lacquer is just sealant for the primer.

There are THREE Factory 21s. The Romanian one includes the letters RPR in the headstamp.

The Polish one makes you rotate the ammo half a turn to read the date.

The Hungarian one has the factory and the date both right-side-up as you look at the base.

As to corrosive/noncorosive, I have no idea. I treat all ComBloc stuff as corrosive because I can't afford crates of new barrels! They did continue if much longer than anyone else. You can do that when your bores are all chromed!

Hope this helps.
