I'm going to call the CFO on Monday but I thought I'd check with people on here as well. Someone came in today and said you no longer have to write down peoples address in Ontario when you sell ammo. Anyone heard this? The CFO sent us new forms a couple weeks ago and they have name, address, PAL #, Photo ID #, etc.

The requirement is law under the Ammunition Act of 1994.

Any change in legislation would have to be made by the sitting government wouldn't it? And I don't see the Libs in Ontario doing anything to help firearms owners.

I just bought some ammo last week at a store and they are still writing down all info, although they were not using any forms provided by the CFO, just a spiral notebook.

Another store I bought at didn't have an ammo book, but they printed you out a reciept with all the info on it, so I assume they have a program on the computer to record everything.

Soulchaser, that's what I thought too. We could use our own form but they also had one premade that we could use. I do want to ask them for some clerification on mail order sales. Do people still have to provide a photo id? I've never been ask for one when I've purchased mail order, just a copy (scan or fax) or my PAL.

I bought ammo at Walmart today. Showed PAL and she asked for a second piece of photo ID. It is provincial law. Mind you, Walmart is the only place i have ever had to show a second piece, and some places never ask for any, they just know me.

The funny thing is, the gal knew me personally! I didn't make a scene, and just walked out with my VERY cheap ammo. She tells me, other people are not so polite, and tell her where to go.

When I bought at Le Baron they asked for my PAL and a piece ID with my photo and address on it, which in my case is my driver's licence because thats the only thing I have with my address on it.

When I bought from another store (gun shop) they asked for my PAL and I just told them my address. They didn't ask to see anything with my address printed on it.

I've never ordered online, but most places I see just ask for either a scan, fax or photocopy of the PAL.

It would be great if you could post on here what you find out from the CFO. Last time I was at Crappy Tire to get some .22's, the teenage clerk wanted my birth date. I told him that since I have a PAL, I am over 18 and that's all he needed to know. He had to go consult with his manager...
