Im new to firearms and purchasing ammo. I just purchased a M&P .22LR, M&P .40 and im not sure on which ammo will work with my guns.

Will any ammo that states .22lr or .40 cal work in my firearms? I know it's a stupid question, but I rather be sure before I purchase them.

Any ammo that says 22LR or 40SW will work but some guns (mostly the 22s) seem to "like" some brands of ammo better than others. Try a few different brands to see what yours "likes".

The manual should state if there is any ammo that you shouldn't use. As for the M&P.22 if it's a sporting chamber use any 22lr that is the most accurate. Buy a few boxes of different makes and see what's best. Manuals will state if you can use the Stingers or not as they are a bit too long for match or bentz chambers.

Thanks guys. I'll buy a bunch of different brands like suggested.

As for the .40, I've used the Winchester ranger for range practice at work, but they're so damn expensive

Winchester Ranger is a Personal Protection type ammo, i wouldn't use that for target practice. Cost you a small fortune;)

Try American Eagle. Good middle of the road ammo.
