Ammo shelf life

Is there a 'best before date" on factory loaded ammo. I have it stored in a large safe and was wondering if there is a shelf life on it .

Measured in decades. If stored cool and dry it just might out last everyone reading this.

I'm shooting GP11 that was made in 1979. Before that I was shooting GP11 made in 1956.

All still looked like brand-new.

Agree. I have boxes of 16ga paper shells probally 50's vintage I still hunt with ,

When I was a kid I found some WW-I era .303 ammo in my Uncle's cabin and tried a few rounds in my #4. It worked . . . it stunk, but it worked. At that time it was only 60 years old though.

I shot some Stalin-era 7.62X25 Tokarev today. No misfires. Gotta love those corrosive primers!

I'm still shooting 303 British surplus left over from WWII, bought it for 10 cents a round. Shoots just as good as the new stuff.
