I was in a store today in Northern Alberta, looking at prices of .22, 7.62x39, 9mm Luger, etc... and it appears that the ammo shortage is starting to catch up to us a bit.

First off, .22 LR in 525 bricks (federal/blazer) were selling for approximately $28 as opposed to the typical $25 or so. He said that as soon as that runs out, they will be going up to over $30 since the manufacturers are focusing on centerfire ammunition rather than rimfire. Essentially, production has stopped on rimfire ammo. A brick of 500 .22 federal 31gr hollowpoints were selling for $50. Another shop told me that the ammo is coming from Japan because the US is not exporting any at this time.

I was also told that SKS ammo is going up as well.

9mm Luger appears to be around the $14 - $15 or so range for a box of 50 (blazer).

Anyways, just curious if others are noticing any price increases in there areas. My info is strictly from speaking with clerks at these stores and looking for myself, so take it with a grain of salt.

I have been to several gun shops and Canadian Tires in the last 3 weeks. All of which had a lot of ammo including the popular calibres .22LR, .223, 308, 9mm and .40S&W.
The prices have all been about the same as they have been over the last year or so. Two of the shops were in Ontario and three were in North Eastern Alberta.
Havent seen the shortage in person, others milage may vary, of course.

Walmart and Canadian tire here are scarce on .22 ammo along with most other popular calibers .223, .308, 30 06 ect ect. The local gun store is fully stocked on most calibers but their prices have always been high. I have just about everything I need to ride out a storm other than I could use a few thousand more .223

Was down in the USA last week and stopped at 8 different shops. Very short supply down there. Lots of 7.62x 39. At one shop they opened up a case of federal 22 lr and it was like watching a pack of wolves attacking. Gone in about 30 seconds. Signs everywhere limiting amounts that can be purchased at one time. Powder is still very sparse.
I think the Canadian shops are doing much better than our friends to the south.

^^^Agreed, the panic buying down south didnt seem to catch on here.
Although there will probably be resupply issues for awhile afterwards.

I was at a full auto MG shoot in Albany OR last month, and guys there felt that the panic seemed to be calming down.
One guy mentioned seeing bricks of .22LR being sold on Gun Broker.com for US$100 !
I asked him "was that sold for, or asking". He said that was a Sold For price.

I don't believe the "... since the manufacturers are focusing on centerfire ammunition rather than rimfire." since they are manufactured on different production lines. Also there are manufacturers that only make rim fire. Correct me if I'm wrong...

bass pro had 9 boxes of eley/remmington for $10 a box on Sunday, lgs has bricks of remington for $60 a brick, no bulk ammo other than brick, cannot buy by the case, next lgs, limits gopher getters to 100 rounds per purchase. Ammo supply is drying up, as are reloading supplies.

The Canadian Tire on Grandview Highway has pretty good stock of .22 now. Saw some Remington Bucket of Bullets and they had some ammo cans of CCI Minimags. Prices just aren't that great, so glad I stocked up last year.

Aside from price increases I haven't noticed anything close to a shortage.

Same here. I can go online now and find quite a bit of .223 and .308 ammo, both in bulk plinking kind and in match grade stuff.

I only buy factory reloaded ammo for my handguns so that doesn't seem like it won't be a problem either; if there are out one week the next shipment is only a week or two away.

There is no shortage... there is increased demand. It's Economics 101: Increased demand without equivalent increased in supply leads to price increases.

Just looked at TSE's new shipment of PMC... TSE is usually the first to get something in - whatever they got landing now, they probably ordered 3-6 months ago (if not longer). Wait and see 3-6 months from now to see what the ammo prices are... I stocked up 3-6 months before 3-6 months ago - so I'm not concerned.

Our CT store up here is out of 22lr in bulk. The LGS has ammo, but all the good stuff is gone and nobody knows when more is coming. There powder & primer shelf is bare, I mean, nothing there except mice turds and dust! No ETA on powder or primers. One good thing about being a Horder.....I bought powder and primers long ago, prior to any increased demand
