Ammo Storage

I just purchased 2000 rounds of .40 S&W reloads. I also purchased a few mil surplus ammo cans. Is it safe/acceptable to dump the ammo out of the Styrofoam separators into the metal ammo can and store/transport it that way? I can store twice as much ammo in a can that way, but don't want to sacrifice safety.

Your ammo gets banged around a bit but it is safe. I store all my cheap shogun shells and 40 cal that way. I don't really care if it gets banged a bit and it doesn't break open in the back seat of the truck. I would not store any premium ammo or my hunting loads for my rifle that way.

It's perfectly fine. I've never seen any evidence of mine getting "banged around".

At $165/1000 you're right. I also bought 2000 rounds of 9mm. Now if I could only find someone who reloads .223 I'd buy 2000 rounds of that too.

165 per thousand for 40 cal reloads is pretty reasonable.
