Hello all,

I have a Tavor 7 on the way and I was wondering if anyone could suggest some ammo I should start with.

I'm very green to the scene so I guess I need some ammo to go plinking and then some that I can depend on. If you can mention what I can expect to pay for the specific round would be appreciated as well.

TIA.

Stay away from the Norinco surplus, my friend has light primer strikes with this ammo but any of the other ammo he tries works.

Ahhh boooo, I was eyeing up a couple spam cans.

Funny, a couple of the ads listed that the Norinco ammo was manufactured in 1995 and they were a rare find; was that a good year for ammo?......LOL

Whatever .308 Winchester or 7.62x51mm ammo with a 145-165 grain spitzer (pointed) bullet you can find in quantity at a good price. It won't hurt to buy a couple of boxes of Norinco to see if it works in your gun.

Avoid buying a large quantity. Pick up a couple boxes of anything you are confident you can find again, try it out. If it works, go back and stock up.

I run the Norc x51 through mine for shooting steel. Maybe have had 2 light strikes out of 300 rounds, just throw them back in and they fire the second time. I have ran a bunch of Barnaul through as well as hirtenberger. I wouldn't be afraid of the Norc to be honest. Just don't trust your life on it. I would try it before I went and bought a few thousand rounds of it first though just as others have mentioned. Good luck!

Years ago, pallets of Hirt 74 berdan were flying out the door of the John era at Marstar. It was a golden time to stack high

Yup and you'd get a deactivated krinker for free if you bought what was it 5 crates? Things have really gone to sh!t.

I miss shooting the XCR-M. Out of all of the 308 semis it was by far my favorite.

PMC Bronze .308 147gr is all I've shot in mine, I'm sure there are better options but that's what I could get locally for the best price. I've heard that they don't like steel case at first, but it seems like some people have no issues after it's broken in.
