I tested Federal Bulk 525 pack 36 grain hollowpoints, CCI Stingers and CCI MiniMags.
The Remington 597 has a Volquartsen Target Hammer, a polished sear, lightened trigger return spring, a trigger stop screw and a free floated barrel.
It has a Leupold 2-7 rimfire scope.
The Henry is stock and has a Bushnell 4x Banner scope.
With both rifles the bore was cleaned and then 5 fouling shots were fired. Shooting was done from sandbags on a benchrest.
On the day I shot the 597 the wind conditions were quite light. On the day I shot the Henry it was a very gusty tailwind.
With both targets I rotated ammo brands with each group shot.
On both targets, Federal is the top row, CCI Stingers is the middle row and CCI Mini Mags is the bottom row.
I neglected to measure the groups but the black dots are 1".
Distance was exacty 50 yards.
10 shot groups, all shots fed from the magazines.
As you can see, the 597 is quite particular while the Henry, not so much. (At least with these 3 brands). I was quite surprised by the 597's hatred of the Federal and the Stingers.
It's also interesting that with the Henry the elevation climbed with each successive Federal group but not so with the other ammo. Also interesting that the Henry was shot as bore sighted with no scope adjustments needed.

Let's see some other tests with these or other brands.
