My PAL is days away from being in my hands. I haven't joined a club yet, but will be soon. I've been contemplating what sort of restricteds I'd like to get though :)

I know that 22LR is super-cheap, around $20/500 rounds, but I haven't really seen any pricing for other types published on the web as much..

What do 9x19, 38 special, 357 magnum and 45 ACP usually go for on average? This'll be a deciding factor in what I choose.

I just figure why should I bother with a .22 when I what I really want is a revolver that can chamber .357 mag and .38 and a 9mm pistol. Obviously rounds will be more, I'm just not sure how much more.

Havent bought wheelgun ammo in a while. 9mm is somewhere between 9 and 14$ for 50rds depending on what you buy. .45 is a bit more expensive.

I don’t think there is a revolver that is not a prohib that can shoot .38, .357 and 9mm… :( as for .22 you can get 500 for $15 if you look around (wall-mart).

I reload all my ammo and would recommend you do the same, it’s not than bad if you have a 9mm, but if you want a .45, or .357mag or higher it will get really costly if you want to shoot a lot.

If you’re not going with .22, get a 9mm the ammo is as cheap as it gets in centrefire ammo, lot’s of cool guns to choose from too...

Most of the clubs in the GTA have a probationary period. You should be able to try out a lot of different guns in the during your probationary shoots. See what you like.

There is nothing like a .22 for getting in a lot of tigger time and that goes a long way in helping to prevent bad habits like flinching.

It will also depend on what you want to do, shoot for the fun of it and literally just go blasting away without caring too much how good you are or if you want to compete, spend a lot of time at the range and become a very good shooter. Obviously, the more trigger time the more ammo and nothing beats a .22 for the least cost trigger time.

...yeah, I was thinking a revolver for .357 and .38, and a separate pisol that I'd use more often for 9mm. I'm sure you'll be happy to know the Beretta 92FS is at the top of my 9mm list :)

I'll agree with most of what's been said here. I only shoot .22lr and 9mm these days. Had a Springfield .45 (my first handgun) that I gave to my brother - more expensive to feed (even when buying the "gov't spec" ammunition - ie. UMC, Winchester white box, American Eagle, etc...).
