Ammunition recommendations for Eastern moose hunt

I shot one with the hornady superformance in 308 . the round entered the ribs just right and came out the other side in two pieces .I am not sure if that is the way the round is ment to act .the animal was as dead as dead can be but I would have thought the bullet would have stayed in one piece instead off breaking in to two pieces .D

These are all 180 grain .308 dia bullets pulled from moose, cant remember the distances for each and some are from 300 win mag and some from 308 win

Don't mean to hijack the post full of big pictures, but hopefully you find this as interesting as I do

A picture is worth a thousand words.
The Core-Lokt seems to be keeping up with the Accubonds which are 2 or 3 times as expensive to buy.
This is probably true in sand, ballistic gelatine and soft tissue shots.
What sold me is the performance when ribs and bone are encountered in big animals like elk and moose.
The Accubonds held together and the 180 Core-Lokts were found in several pieces when they didn't penetrate the body and exit the other side.
This is stuff I've seen and not from conjecture or second hand from a sports magazine.

If he has a draw, and unlikely to get another.....

Ammo is about the cheapest part of the trip....fuel, precious time off.....

Use what shoots best, but dont be afraid to use expensive stuff either, if that is the accurate stuff. Its only going to take 1 or 2 shots...so the expensive box lasts several seasons. Like i said, about the cheapest part of the trip.

If he has a draw and is unlikely to get another applies to more and more WMUs in regards to moose hunting.
Less than 3 dozen adult moose tags issued in my WMU 28 this year.
This will become the norm rather than the exception until the MNR takes the politically correct blinders off and re-opens the spring black bear season completely and bring the regulation of First Nations and métis so-called sustenance hunting in line with the reality of declining moose populations.
Yup, I'll be using the Nosler ammo because my next adult moose tag (if there is a next one) might be my last and I want to stack the odds in my favour.
Hopefully the Ontario government will stop azz kissing and cow towing to special interest pseudo-conservation and ethnic groups and start governing the province for the benefit of ALL Ontarians.
That Nosler ammo really performs in my rifles.
