Can anyone provide the name of an online or telephone retailer that will ship ammunition to Cambridge Bay, Nunavut.

Cabela and Wholesale Sports both won't. This is frustrating to say the least...

You may have to find a member to do it. There are associated fees such as dangerous goods in order to put large quantities of ammo on a plane. That too much paper works for places like WSS and Cabelas.

Just a thought.

Good question Bigbubba! Most things come through Canada Post as an air stage location and of course CP won't ship ammunition.

Other cargo is shipped through the airlines; however, this can be a large cost added on to the bill (which I don't mind).

In the end if I can't find an online or telephone retailer who will ship, I have a few other options that may be available. Thought I would first try a large forum such as this to see if anyone has experienced or shipped ammo to the territories?

The easiest way is to use an expediter. They will prepare the dangerous goods paperwork, get the shipment to the airport. The airline will not dot an I or cross a T if the paper is not correct. And if the paper is not correct, the shipment gets refused.

I work in the Arctic, and bring my own shotgun and rifle ammo up. I've never had an issue starting my journey with Westjet... After that, when you start dealing with lets say Calm Air, it's really not an issue... Here's Westjet's info...

Ammunition must be:
Securely packaged and packed separately from the firearm, however it is permitted to be transported within the same container.
Carried in sturdy baggage not weighing more than 5 kg (11 lb.) gross weight per person (excluding ammunition with explosive or incendiary projectiles)
Packaged in the manufacturer's original container or an equivalent sturdy, durable container that provides sufficient cartridge separation

The difference is you can carry up to 11 lbs in your luggage without declaring your ammo as dangerous goods. When you are not travelling with the ammo those rules do not apply when shipping it as cargo.

The easiest way (cheapest) is to get someone to buy it in Yellowknife/Edmonton and have them bring it back to Cambridge Bay when they go up.

That was going to be my other suggestion.........have someone (everyone you know) bring some back with them everytime they come

Would also probably be easier if you had some buddies to help out with the cost - if you all shot 30.06 for example you get get a bunch sent up and split it.
