Oh well, ended up pulling the trigger on an AMP Annealer... Promotional code "ballistics" will give you a 5% discount. With all the exchange rate, shipping cost, credit card and import/brokerage fees, etc, it was still couple hundred bucks cheaper to order from AMP directly compared to the Canadian dealer...

Just fyi...

Did you order direct from NZ?

How about warranty?

Will X-Reload take care of it?

I bought my AMP annealer from X reload and since every time I wanted pilots to anneal new cartridges 6.5 prc, 300 prc 30 Nosler and a few more they are always NO STOCK .

I've ordered from the USA distributor (they have stock) and the last time direct from AMP in NZ...ordering direct from AMP (NZ) was quicker to receive the product than ordering from QC ...go figure!

When I get the new AMP press I think I'll just order direct as well.

Why worry about warranty in Canada when you get no service to start with....might as well just deal with that direct too.

Not having pilots in stock isn't exactly the same as needing warranty work.

Would hate to know how much it would cost to ship it clear across the world (and maybe back) if anything needed fixing.

My guess would be it gets shipped back regardless of who sends it.

and if you want to anneal brass and don't have the pilot the whole unit is just sitting idle, same as broken...its like selling motorbikes and not having spark plugs or tires in stock :(

Good to know.

Been looking at them and will likely order direct as well if it comes out being that much cheaper.

Have ordered quite a bit from X-Reload, but the one time I had an issue with a Wilson product they didn't help and I dealt with Wilson directly. I'd assume it would be the same with AMP.

I just saw that Bartons in Grande Prairie has one and is offering annealing per case, I have been using the salt bath method for myself cause its economical and easy but might take some brass and try out the amp machine to see the difference

I scooped a 300 PRC pilot from Xreload last time they had one in stock. But I waited for a looooong time for it to be available.

A quick question - should the brass be annealed every time the case is reloaded?

Or can you skip that part and just anneal every 2-3 reloads?

Thanks

In theorie, for maximum consistency, it should be done each firing.

As far as x reload, i think they have good intentions to stock and support everything they sell. They just have so many irons in the fire at one time. They have a lot of the stuff other dealers don’t. When I bought my 21st century priming tool (only Canadian dealer), they had it and all the shell holders in stock. I decided to bite the bullet and order a bunch of shell holders I might need in the future. Looking at the stock now, I’m glad I did. I’d be ordering from the states if I needed more.
I just bought a new press and case feeder from them this week. They were the only dealer who had all the parts and accessories in stock. I called and talked to them about a shipping quote. He actually told me that they didn’t expect stock for 6 months from Dillon. He rattled of a bunch more manufacturers that were 6 months to a year for products. It almost makes you feel bad for Canadian businesses. How do you keep customers? My press and casefeeder went out that day.
Sorry for the rant op… I’m jealous. I still anneal like a caveman with fire…

I bought an AMP annealer a couple years ago. I bought it from X reload and had an issue after a year. It had go directly back to NZ for the warranty work. AMP were top notch on service. Was very happy to have a company stand 100% behind there product.
As far as I know where ever you purchase your AMP warranty is done in NZ.

Asking for a friend ;)
