An interesting observation with Harris bipods

I can't shoot a Harris off a bench for sh!t, but if I'm on grass or dirt (something I can preload against) I'm fine.

A preload is definitely what I do when I shoot from my bench. You wouldnt know that of course, just letting you know.

I built my bench with an oak hand rail profiled so that my bipod feet can slide forward into battery every time. Its all in the shooting system a person develops. Some dont do these things and have inconsistant results.

Can a Harris be used for accurate precision shooting? YES.... just spent a week watching a few Canadian Team shooters illustrate what can be done with a Harris.

One of them is now the 8th best shooter after the Worlds.

Is the harris an easy device to shoot accurately with? NO. except for a handful, no one used a Harris at either the US Nationals or Worlds. There are far better skipods for precision shooting. Far more stable, repeatable, easy to use consistently.

SOOOOOO, if you want to use a Harris and learn how to use it well, you will need to confirm the stock set up then practise, practise, practise. Shooting a Harris well is a learnt skill.

YMMV.
