Usually a conversion to percussion involves a simple drum threaded into the side of the barrel.
I think this one was done by a real gunmaker. The drum is barrel shaped with neat mouldings, even a light center line to locate the nipple. Modest engraving on the end.


The gun is an 11ga shotgun by Isaac Whitehouse who opened his shop in 1811, died 1843. Post 1813 Birmingham proofs, STUBBS marked. 36 1/2" barrel. Probably a waterfowler. Quality gun when made, bore is basically shiny. After some lock work it should be a shooter.
