I just had to have this when I saw it.
I'm a fan of the Rem 700 and the 7mm Rem Mag cartridge,...this was the first year of both.
Built Aug. 1962, 5 digit serial number..stainless/blued barrel, ADL, Buehler mounts that were holding an old Tasco, I put the Elite on it.
Metal and stock nicely worn with no major damage. Bore is as new. The rear sight is from a later 700.
Remington changed the rear sight design about 1974, I have some older sights around I just can't find them right now.
I'll swap one on when I can put a hand on one.
It has never been bedded or floated and I scraped the factory sealer off of the trigger adjustment screws.
It shot groups around 1-1/4" with a couple handloads I had with 140 TSX's and 150 BT's. I think it can do better.
Thought you all might want to see an old 700 with the thin bolt handle, short bolt plug and square safety knob, all features of 700's up until about '66.
I've owned these older 700's in the past, many of them in better condition than this one but I didn't hang on to them.
