An old boy found a new home

I don't know the story of this 1937 nagant, or what exactly it is. Came to me painted with a plastic Monte Carlo stock that left me wanting more. The barrel was surprisingly good condition, front sight ground off, the rear missing. The paint was stripped with canadian tire autmotive paint stripper (best i ever used) the bluing underneath was completely off, fine scratches all over leaving me no choice but to repaint. So when i heard Archangel coming out with a stock i put my name in the hat, and a ling while later I bought another stock and now this is the most expensive cheap rifle I have. I have dies, soon we will see how accurate it is

I think it looks cool. Not every sported gun can be remilitarized.

Well it was made in 1937... so.... take a guess.

50-50 chance but the barrel is too nice, the blue on the receiver what was left wasn't worn looking

I believe you mean The Great Patriotic War. The 1937 manufacture date almost guarantees the old girl saw use on one front or another. Some of the other stuff are inspection marks and refurb stamps from when it was gone over and put in cosmoline after the war.
Those archangel stocks certainly look interesting. I have an ATI but I'm not 100% happy with it. And is that the screw on bolt handle? How do you find it fits? Sturdy?

"The Great Patriotic War"; that's the war that began on June 22nd 1941. WWII began on September 3rd, 1939. An early date doesn't necessarily mean a rifle was used in the war. Lots of weapons spent the war and post-war period in MVD amouries or NKVD armouries for that matter, staying warm and dry against the day they might be needed to keep the masses in their place.

Took a lot of grinding to make it fit, I filled up the cavity with steel putty and screwed it together, put in a wise and clamped it tight and crewed it tight a few times to squeeze out the excess material, very good and snug fit. The bolt hits the stock and had to notch it a bit but the stock was easier to work with. Overall I like it even if it was a "bit" pricey.

Looks good on my cell phone - you made something out of it, and it will now be used. However, how well it shoots is more important.

I picked up some Sierra 174 grain bthp match bullets in .311 to see if this gun shoots as good as it looks. My friends is going to lend me a 12x scope

Be sure you let us know how it shoots. I find that good .303 loads often can be very good, if mild, MN loads. Consistency is (almost) everything.

As said, they cannot ALL be restored.

Better to look like this than like a frame for a Toyota.

It DOES look sort of neat.... but I didn't say that! I have a reputation as a "purist" to uphold, remember!

As has been said, not all can be restored- Putting her back on her legs (even if artificial) and being used is better that the waste bin.
