Figured I would toss this out there, all you folks long in the tooth ignore this. :D
Scope adjusting;
Think of these as you would a common screw,
Elevation ,
you screw it in , the screw goes in, your elevation goes down. un screw the screw , the screw comes up and out of the wood, well the point of impact also come up.
Windage;
Same deal , you screw it in , POI moves left, un screw it , POI moves right.

Same can be done to Elcan bases, red dot , any Optics really.

Well I know what your thinking, so what, well I have seen folks screw(LOL) it up , and after I mentioned this to them, they never messed it up again. :)

Levi Garrett,
That's exactly what I do on most scopes, BUT it would be backwards on a Zeiss and probably some others. I've turned the dials backwards on my Conquest too many times to count. My understanding is that the erector assembly that houses the reticle is hinged at one end, and the adjustment screws push the other end over. Depending on the manufacturer's whim and design it could be at the front or back, but the only one that I can think of that's backwards at the moment is the Zeiss. There's bound to be others though. I'm back to reading the dials everytime I depart from Leupold Land.:( Luckily that isn't very often :D
