I got a chuckle out of this so I thought I would...And the award for Understatement goes to geranimo A+(439) Gunbroker item #85952610. For the statement "SOME PITTING AT THE END OF THE BARREL"

It's not pitting...it was a special dazzle effect designed to confuse the enemy.

Add $300 to the price for it being in such pristine condition.

Sarcasm for those who can't naturally detect it.

i wish i had the real geranimo rifle that was auctioned, heavy pitting wouldnt matter.

"Geronimo is seen kneeling with a rifle in a photo from the U.S. National Archives. A Springfield rifle owned by the famed Apache warrior Geronimo fetched $100,000 (48,500 pounds) during an auction of Wild West guns and weapons that brought in more than $1 million. It is unknown if the rifle pictured is the one auctioned. REUTERS/National Archives/Handout "

That's the kind of gun I need: if I forget to clean it for 30 years or so, I won't see any difference.

Too bad, though: looks like a Swiss Vetterli 10.35mm rimfire bolt rifle, and they were beautifully made.

Oh well, in this condition, if the bore is okay, it would not break one's heart to convert to centrefire and take it out shooting. Fun.

Oddly enough, I have a Lee Metford that looks like that. The clown stored it near an evaporitive cooler. However internaly it is in good condition, apparently he did put some preservative in the bore.
AND I have taken it to the range.
