Damn Remingtons Damn Remingtons Damn Remingtons Damn Remingtons Damn Remingtons Damn Remingtons. Yup I said it..... Damn Remingtons.

Now that I have your attention I was able to make a trip to the range after dinner tonight (Note to self put TP in range bag). That's a whole other story we really do not want to get into.

I took my Remington 22-250 & my Sako 223 out tonight. The 700 has a factory jacket peeling barrel & the Sako has a Douglas barrel.

With the exception of a Shilen trigger at 1 1/2 & a bedding job the 700 is basically a factory rifle. A 6.5x20x40mm Leupold sits on top of it.

The Sako has a Douglas barrel, Wildcat composite stock bedded up & Timney trigger set to 1 1/2lbs. A 4.5x14x40mm Leupold sits on it.

Here is the results.

Up first was the Sako. The group in the upper corner was some FMJ reloads I was playing with. The 5 shots was some 35gr Vmax I loaded up with IMR 4198. The cloverleaf were the first 3 & the other 2 followed. I got an average speed of 3843 FPS.

The Remington was the next victim. Ignore the holes on the edge as I just put this scope on the rifle & was sighting it in. The 3 in the center were Barnes XLC's. I have no clue what the load was as these were given to me by a friend. I'll have to find out the details though as it sure likes them. Average speed was 3809 FPS.

There are only 3 shots out of the 22-250 because the combination of a rain shower & the lack of TP cut me short. (Note to self, never eat KFC before going to the range.)

Here are the 2 targets on top of each other.

It does not show good, but I believe if there is a hair difference between the 2, that would be about it.

I guess a guy don't need a premium barrel to shoot a good group. This should open up a can of worms debate.

Nice!....Be sure to post the 22-250 load when you get the data...How long is the barrel on your .223?
