My son and I are planning to set a small machine shop in SE BC. We will be doing specialty work only, with a great deal of business geared toward the firearms industry.

I am currently rigged to do small anodizing jobs (sorry, booked up)and was wondering if any of you gents think it might be wise to expand my anodizing sideline.

After searching CGN I have come across numerous posts looking for such a service. I know that Ardent does anodizing but I have found no one dedicated specifically to firearms parts.

Until I get set up properly it will be type 2 and once the business picks up I'll move to type 3. I would also be offering dye jobs.

I am assured of small local jobs but my question to you is:
Is it worth my while to persue this endeavour within our industry? No commitments necessary, just your thoughts.

Many thanks and please PM me with your thoughts ideas and questions.

Since we're talking firearms, my main interest would be in type III hard coat anodizing. I already know of a shop that can send out for this type of work, but I'd be interested if you could duplicate "Colt grey" with Sandstrom 9A for some of my more retro projects. Of course their may be limited demand for this in Canada, but their is a small and growing retro AR-15 movement in the US.
