I played with some VVN550, which is slower than VVN150 in an M38, which I bought from Husky Dude at Salmon Arm.After how it was down played, I hate to say N150. I'm loading to nearly Max load, but I'm using a M/96 actioned CG63 with a looooong barrel. When my usual shooting partner and I next go to the range, I'm hoping to get doped in @ 600+m.
It's a good powder and is quite a bit "slower" than the powders that were used in Scandanavian military loads right up to the mid fifties.
I agree with Peter that it's not ideal, but it's adequate and if used properly, produces some very consistently accurate loads with bullets right up to 160 grains.
When shooting rifles such as the CG63, it's not so much about velocity, as it is about a very consistent, safe load. The rest is up to the shooter to learn how to use those loads at the ranges he/she will shoot.
When I'm looking to extrapolate a load for N150, I go to the charts and look at H4895/IMR4895 for a starting point.
