Another Bases/Rings question from a noob

Just ordered a Winchester Model 70 Featherweight in 30-06. I'm shopping for a scope, rings, bases for it. If I can get rings figured out, I could call and get them to send it in with the rifle when it is shipped out on Monday.

I have absolutely no idea about ring/bases compatibility.

For a scope, I'm trying to decide between a Vortex Viper and Zeiss Conquest MC 3-9x40mm. I believe the Viper is 30 mm tube and the Conquest is a 1" tube.

I have used Burris Zee Signature rings on my CZ452 and I like them a lot. Can I use the same model of rings here? Those just mounted right on my CZ. Do I need to order some kind of bases for the Winchester?

I realize these Burris rings seem to come in different heights. I've picked out 40mm scopes so that they will sit relatively low on the scope. Any idea what height of rings I need to clear the bolt and yet sit low enough?

I really appreciate any thoughts.

I have an M70 featherweight in 30'06.

I use leupold dual dovetails. There is a reversible front base available which every shop will tell you that you need. You simply don't.

I have mounted a Bushnell Elite and a Leupold VX-1 with great success using that setup

Thank you! Are these the new FN made M70s you have? What scopes are you using on them and are you happy with them?

My M70's are the older ones made by USRAC in New Haven, CT (2 Classics and 1 Pushfeed with featherweight contour barrels). Scopes are Bushnell Elites, 2.5-10x40mm and 3-9x40mm. They have accurate adjustments and hold zero, so I like them.
