Been running through my head on what bullet to shoot this year, was thinking on some sort of "BONDED" style, But i'm now thinking of maybe trying a Copper Solid of some kind. Heres the Question, If I go with a copper solid say, Barns, Hornady or Nosler..... is the 140-150grn copper solid comparable to say a 160+grn Bonded/cup style bullet!? I've done some research, but didn't find anything that actually stated this! Thanks in advance for any in-put and info!!!

Barnes recommends going to a lighter weight when using their bullets perhaps in part because they are longer for their weight and may not shoot as well in a rifle uas a shorter bullet. I have used them but I have yet to get the accuracy from them I get with standard bullets, though many people have had good luck with them. In terms of penetration they will penetrate better for their weight than any other bullet I have tried. I have had only very limited experience with bonded bullets but they don't seem to penetrate any better than standard bullets and sometimes less so but they do retain more mass.

I have used or personally witnessed the TSX,MRX,and the TTSX used on big game, and the 140gr Barnes penetrated at least as well as a 175gr partition.Accuracy was very good in my rifles, with even less fouling than most cup and core bullets.

Accubond

I've been very pleased with the Nosler Accubond.
Below is a cut-and-paste of a previous post by me:

I've shot a moose at just under 100 yards with the .30 cal 200gn NAB:
MV was 3145
3 shots, all exited - 2 through the heart - lungs, one through the shoulders.
No signs of over expansion / breakup.

The previous year I was using the .30 cal 165 NAB:
MV was 3565
I shot 2 deer, both at just under 100 yards, both shots exited with no signs of over expansion / breakup.

I shot a moose at 30 yards, 3 shots if I recall correctly (I keep shooting until they're down. This moose and the one mentioned above were dead on the first shot but still up). All exited but one bullet. It was found under the hide after having penetrated both sets of shoulder bones.

Here's that bullet:

The impact velocity of that bullet would have been around 3496fps. I don't know what more you could ask of a bullet.

The NAB is every bit as tough as the Partition and offers the high BC and accuracy potential of the Ballistic Tip.

I highly recommend it for higher velocity cartridges. (This was a 300 RUM).
