so today i decided t ogo pick up a new box of the correct size .410 shells for the cooey i picked up from Doug at the perth show and i decided to pic kup a small 5 pack of slugs for it as well. i get to the ammo cabinet and the store manager is the one there waiting to open it for mepoint out the ones i want he puts them into the bag and hands the bag to me i then give him my info for "the book" and head to the front. the cashier rings the ammo through and i ask her to inspect it before i leave the till as i was not allowed t ohandle it untill now and she agrees, so i open the 25 pack of bird shot and they are all kosher so i open the 5 pack of slugs and theres a shell missing. so i tell her that i would like to exchange it and she abrubptly informs me that Can tire policy states they cannot return or refund ammo. so i take a deep breath to remain calm and inform her that she would do kindly to get the manager up here to assist in this matter as this could very well become an issue where i would be required to contact the police to inform them that CT has somehow "lost" live ammo. so the manager comes up and asks what the problem is and i explain to him the situation and that since he was the only one to handle the ammo until the cashier unlocked the bag and i hadn't even left the till i would like the ammo replaced with a full pack not missing any. the cashier then mubles something to him about me calling the police and he inturns says ok we will exchange it BUT there is no way it was one of HIS staff as he didnt think any of them would need a gun.

blah i hate CT sometimes

Only sometimes ????? :p

"...he in turn says ok we will exchange it..." The 'magic words' worked. Problem solved. Who cares what his staff does or doesn't need?
Think about using paragraphs.

Yah its their policy and its even written on the receipt.

HOWEVER, i have exchanged ammo at both wal-mart and can-tire, both of whom claim to not exchange it.

While I do feel your pain it is policy for them not to return ammo. I accidentally bought a value pack of 20 gauge and before reaching the front doors realized my mistake. No returns even though it was a few minutes. They were just following policy.

For all the Canadian Tire ranters and the posts that follow...............

DON'T SHOP FOR AMMO THERE!

There has been 150 anti-CT posts on CGN and were gonna feel sorry for another sucker who bought there instead of the local gun store?

I'm going to continue to bang my head against the wall now....and wait for the next CT or zombie thread.

If he didn't leave the store he is not returning diddly-squat. He is asking for all the merchandise he paid for.

For what its worth, Canadian Tire policy does allow you to open the box and look at the contents BEFORE they bag it or carry it to the cash for you. Also some of us don't have the luxury of a "local" gunshop. The nearest one to me is 45mins one way. CTC is it for local ammo.

I'm 45 mins away from my local gunshop as well - it just means I stock up more on what I need each time I'm there. It's also nice to have a real selection of ammo to choose from as well. CTC is for emergency purchases only for me.

i went to Ct for ammo cause Gunco wasnt open and i avoid giving lebarons $$ plus they didnt have any .410 slugs. and wally world i avoid simply because of there lax security *they dont even ask to see PAL for ammo purchases*

On your way out or back in?

I have exchanged a 100 pack of 20 gauge when I thought I had 12 ga. Didn't notice till I got out to the car. They had no problem exchanging it at the service counter but I could have saved myself 10 minutes by paying better attention!

I actually returned ammo to CT when I found the same stuff at Wally World for $2 cheaper. No hassles. I guess it all depends on who helps you. :(

Ct

Never bought ammo from CT but I bought a car battery. Had it sitting by the sliding door in my van. It fell out and cracked on the pavement. Took it back a couple of days later and told them the story - not the fault of the battery but could they do anything?...they gave me a new one...

Now that's not bad. But the most important thing to them is a happy customer. They know you will buy more than a battery from them in the future and loosing money because you broke it is well, part of keeping a good customer relationship.

Good to see. :)
