Can anyone tell me what years the original Canadian C8's were made? From what I understand the first 2 digits of the serial number is the year of manufacture, followed by the letters AB, and then a 5 digit number often starting with 2 zero's. What range of the first 2 digits would be appropriate? Thanks!

Are the lowers on a c8 different from a c7?

For example when my unit finally got c7a2's some of the lowers were dated older than the c7a1's we just got rid of haha. I believe the cf armorers will refurbish lowers and other parts I'm sure. That's about all I can add haha

Thanks! Any idea what year they would have stopped being stamped C8 and gone on to the new designation? If I understand correctly, some C8's were "converted" by adding FTHB or some other designation to the original C8 stamping at the time the guns were reworked. Would they have stopped making C8 only stamped lowers by this time? And when would that have been?

Edited to add:
We're there C8's that were based off of C7 receivers, or were the C8's all new guns?

No, Dlask. I had him build me some C8 lowers, but he marked them as C8FTHB instead of just C8. I sold most of them, and am getting him to do some C8's for me now. I'm not even sure what I have for options for a custom ser #, but if I can I want to have done my homework first.

The FTHB I was issued was on a C8 lower that was stamped afterwards. I retired in 2010 so I don't know when they went to newly stamped lowers, sorry.
I never saw an original C8 that was made on a lower that started as a C7, but strange things happen I guess.
