Can a rifles accuracy potential be tested with cheap glass?

I have a new rifle and the only scope I have on hand is a tasco varmiter. Is it worth it to mount the tasco for a test run until my new scope arrives or is it possible it will just totally mislead me on the guns potential? Can good short term results be obtained with a cheap scope? I just want to shoot a few groups and see if the gun is sub moa.

Cheers

As a cheap glass aficionado, I can honestly say... maybe.
The problems with cheap scopes isn't that they are all bad, just theat they are inconsistant. If you've got a good one, that's great. If you've got a less-good on, it doesn't get any better.
And there is always the possibility that your previously 'good' cheap scope can suddenly go 'bad', in theory anyway.
I love my cheap scopes; but I've always got a couple as back-ups.
