Another Dumb question - Which barrel first

When shooting doubles which barrel of your O/U do you fire first, and why?

Bottom and Just because

you shoot the barrel that is more open first

do not know what choke you have
ie mod choke
then the full choke

mod is the more open choke
the closer the target the more open you want it to be

the next one is a full choke for farther away birds

Depends on what you're doing. On a skeet field, generally speaking bottom first, this is for recoil control. When firing the bottom barrel their is little muzzle jump, the gun recoils straight back, this allows you to get to the second target faster. On a sporting clays field, the station you're on will dictate which choke restriction you need first on a double, depending on which chokes are in the gun and where will determine which barrel you will fire first.

I like and agree with this answer. In theory there are reasons with muzzle jump and crap like that.....

Do whatever makes you happy and be consistent with it.

I prefer my bottom barrel first as there seems to be less perceived recoil.
