I have an all numbers matching Lee Enfield No.4 Mk 1/2. It has very little to no markings other than the serial number which is BY 14124. On the left side is a series of markings which are 52 BY 14124 No.4 Mk1-2 (F) FTR. There are little 'F''s stamped everywhere which I assume to mean Fazakerly. On the top of the receiver is a very small stamping that completely illegible and on the side is a very small stamping that looks like 32 followed by an open up arrow and a PE. There are no other markings whatsoever. Is it normal for an all numbers matching made in Fazakerly fire arm to have an Ishapore screw?

Sounds like a Fazakerly for sure... But also an India Service rifle (Ishy screw). Yes, I have seen Longbranch rifles matching with the screw. Sounds like 1952 FTR then sold to India where their armourers would have placed the screw in it for 'reinforcement'. Check the top of the receiver (where the barrel screws in) for an asterix symbol meaning cord-wear, a lot of the India rifles are shot-out. If not and the bore looks good, check the head space and have fun!

If it's in good shape it makes a great shooter.

I looked at the bore and the darn thing is wicked shiny. Absolutely no rust, pitting or marks of any kind. If I didn't now better I'd say it was new. I also removed the 2 top stock pieces and the barrel is numbers matching. Under 1 of the pieces of fore stock is stamped 'JC' with an open arrow and under the other is a small 'L'. The metal band attached to the front of the 1 piece of fore stock has 'CCM' stamped in it. I also noticed that the rear graduated sight has a small 'B' in it. There is a mark at the top of the action where it meets the barrel but it is very hard to make out. It looks like a 'B' or an '8' or a 'G' followed by 2 'I's which appear connected like an 'H' so something like 'BH','8H' or 'GH'. The rest is a mess like it was over stamped but there could be an 'I' in there. I know that the Ishapore screw is the kiss of death but this gun was made in Fazakerly, its was refurbished in Fazakerly and for some reason it spent time India. The gun looks great to me and it does look like it served so I think that I will treat it right just the same. I would like a little advice on what the correct stamping on the fore stock wood should be and that rear sight may not be right.
