I recently hooked up with an ole friend and got to talkin about shootin some coyotes. Well our saturday started like any other day with a Tims coffee to get the ole body running on all cylinders. :)

We were at our spot a good half hour before sun up. Just had about a 700yrd walk in to our first set. My partner started with some hand calling and I was setup about 100yrds downwind of him watching a small draw. Not a minute of calling I spotted two dogs pop out of some bush for a look about 250 from me. You could tell that they were alil interested in the calls because they both looked back and forth at each other for a minute or two like they were deciding to check out what was going on. Well they started slow down towards the calling. They didnt see me laying prone so I decided to just let them keep coming. Kind of cool to watch em like that. I was ranging them now at 147 and still coming. I liked watching the show so I wasnt ready for my partners shot. First time working together... Fur on the ground. Sorry forgot to take a pic of this yote.

Did another set out in the field where I scored my deaf dumb dog from last week but couldnt get them from mousing the fields. So no fur here.

Changed locations to a different small valley I called a week ago.

This one is kind of hard to get in without being seen as there aint much cover to take us in. Anyways we go in and glassed abit from our ridges but didnt see anything. Things are lookin good we fire up the ecaller for some rabbit distress. Let that run on and off for a few minutes and I look down the frozen river I see acouple dogs trotting towards us. Flag my partner down to give him a heads up. We let them come to about the 175yrd range and since my partner was further away I wait for him to strike first. Two dogs down, fur on the ground. :D

This pic is from my position looking down on the dogs. Hard to see em there but ones about 225 and the other is about 250.

Cant tell from the pic but this coyote is my biggest one ever. Cant really tell from this pic though. Humpin him out sucked lol

It was a good day in my books. Talked with the farmer on the way back to the truck and told us about some new coyotes riddled place to go and I guess the two wolves are back in the neighborhood again. Going to spend acouple days tracking them down here soon I think.

cheers
