Another Mauser safety issue

Hi, I am working on a Mauser project and just bought a forged bolt. it was advertized that that safety is low to allow low scope mount, but when I got it I found out that it is exactly the same as the original safety.
I only need to clear 0.10" from the top, is there a way to file it? is there a special file for steel?
any suggestions will be great.

Why don't you buy one of he inexpensive trigger assemblies with side safety. This is what I put on my sporter mauser and it work just great - both the trigger and the safety. If you do buy one, make sue it's one with the safety included.

I can't remember where I got mine - a long time ago but the price was reasonable. You probably could do a google search and find one.

but the good news is I just received a note from the seller, apparently he made a mistake and sent the wrong one.
