Sorry guys but I had to add to the long list......Yesterday Silverback and I were out at the outdoor range. Along with us was the rifle version of Winchester M94, with 26 inch barrel, made in '67, that I recently purchased off a fellow CGN. I also own a '56 made 30-30 Carbine and an '83 made 44 mag Trapper. This long barrelled rifle was so easy and sweet to shoot off-hand, both of us could easily strike the 200 yard gong........It is amazing how the barrel length alone changes drastically the "feel" of these awesome
North American made firearms.

Why did I wait so long to get a long piped winny???

I think the added sight radius of another 6" on the barrel as well as another 6"-8" for the reciver sight adds to the 'accurracy" of the long barreled lever guns....what's the sight radius on a 20" Carbine with the factory buckhorn sight?

Rembo , just for you buddy.....sight radius 30-30 carbine and issue sights 16.5 inches(w/ peep about 23 inches)
Sight radius win M94 trapper with issue sights is, 12.5 inches(would be about 18 inches w/ peep sight)
Full length 26 inch that I bought off you, sight radius 29 inches, w/ peep
(w/o would have been about 22 inches)
All installed peep sights are Williams FP model.....

Cheers.............

I have 2 1894s, one in 30-30 and 38-55. The 30-30 is 1896 or 97 vintage. They are in good shape and are great shooter and fun at that. The longer barrels do make a difference.

1894

I just purchased a very good condition 1894 rifle in .38-55. It was made in 1906. the bore is slightly pitted and this rifle still shoots Winchester factory .38-55 as well as my 1954 vintage .32 special shoots. I love these guns. Now to find a .25-35 carbine........
cheers Darryl
