Hi there, well, first pistol, and its finally here!

I did a detail strip, removed the mag disconnect and cleaned/oiled it all up.

I bought a Plano aluminum pistol case for it. And some snap caps for dry fire trigger training and pointing in the house(away from anyone)

then I fitted it for the pistol and some of its best freinds.

Very nice! The colouring in your photos looks very cool... almost a dark dark gray or something.

Nice work on the case as well. Very tidy :)

Mine sits in Plano box - single pistol model and I find it a "tight fit" for everything.
Lots of comments on SR9s lately - Did RUGER's supply "truck" finally made a visit to local gun-stores?

Now you know the 'first handgun' feeling. How long before we see your 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc? can't stop at one
 
Having a hard time decideing between the SR-9 and a CZ pistol for my first handgun. Assumeing my RPAL arrives before I die of TMBs [ Too Many Birthdays] Pics like these make the decision even harder. Where did you find this one if you don't mind me asking? I live not to far down the road from you.
 
Got mine at Wanstalls, ordered on the phone. Arrived Canada post. Those dumbasses sent it somewhere else first so it was a week late but its here now.

I really like the CZ stuff as well, have shot a couple and they have great reviews too. However its at least $200 more for one, more like $250 really. Thats 1000 rounds of ammo, or a cheap rifle/shotgun, or lots of other stuff. That is important to me. I could have JUST the CZ, or the Ruger and lots of other stuff.

It says in the Ruger manual that dry firing it is ok with a mag in, but not without. After taking it apart, I don't see how, but then again I don't want to risk it. Plus this way I can see how the action works, and the magazine feeds.

as for the colour, the top 2 pictures really do capture how it looks. Maybe just a wee little bit darker in real life, but depending on the light, its pretty close. The shot in the box isn't as good, as it was quite dark and I didn't want to use the flash.

I am very happy with my new SR9 as well.....first 200 rounds at the range went wiyhout a hitch.

The only issue I see is you will need slots for more mags! lol

Congrats! My wife will be christening hers today. All black like yours.

I see you opted for the straight grip housing as well. In handling my wife's SR9, I didn't like hitting my thumb on the safety when easing the slide into battery. I have to change my grip on the slide grasping grooves to prevent contact. My wife, not 1911 trained, doesn't have the problem.

This is her first semi-auto and she likes it. The only other one she has ever fired is my PPK .22 'James Bond' gun, and she thought that was cool, especially after seeing "Sky Fall".

I confess that when Ruger comes out with an SR45, I may be interested ..... my 1911s will be jealous.

I don't like that safety lever on the right side either as it skins up my left hand finger tips when racking the slide.

I also don't like that you can't hit the slide release and let it close on its own, but you have to ease it back just a wee bit then release it.
 
Yeah, I have the same thumb contact issue when handling my wife's SR9. Just a matter of adaptation. She has no problems with her first semi-auto and can't figure out what the hell my problem is .....

We just got back from the range where she checked out her gun, starting with two paws at 15m. Target was a black centred 100 yd rifle target with 8" black bull. She didn't need such a large aiming point, as she was shooting MUCH smaller groups, putting 4-5 rds into clusters you could cover with a twoonie.

The sights required no adjustment, and she likes the 3-dot arrangement. I don't, but it's not my gun. Ammo was American Eagle 147 gr. hardball. She bought 1000 rds of that and 100 AE 124 gr. as those were her options.

When that got boring for her, I got her shooting strong hand only. No shots out of the black.

Then I brought the target to 10m and had her shooting weak handed, as she will have to do on her Black Badge course. I was amazed! Absolutely no problem putting 10 rds into a group 2-3"! The gal can shoot. She needs a little more drill in pulling back the slide to load, but that will come.

As we were leaving, a lady showed up with a pair of CZs, one of them a Shadow. I tell ya guys, the ladies are taking over .....
