hey all, just took my safety course for non restricted (got 100% btw) and hunting course. i have my restricted course and test coming up , just waiting for the instructor to call and say when and where.

i want to get a small collection (probably nothing in comparison to most of what you guys have.
i really know nothing about guns and im here to learn what i can, usually pick things up fairly quickly.
right now i have paid for but not taken delivery or ownership of a Squire .22 with glass, never been fired. (basically on hold with a friend) i know its not a great gun but its good enough to go out to the range, it was offered to my by a neighbor that decided he didnt want his guns anymore..gave him $80 with glass on it, a hard case, and a gun safe.
im also looking for a handgun, most likely a 9mm for the range (theirs a outdoor just outside of Burlington ill most likely be going to, ive dumped a few mags there with a visitor pass and the staff there seems great.) and then a shotgun for hunting.
then ill be looking to get a rifle (non restricted) that looks like a assault/tactical rifle. ive seen some awesome looking ones online, but i want one that is classified for use while hunting in ontario.

Welcome :)

Lots of reading and learning to do ... we've all been there ... good luck with those first few purchases! :D

thanks guys.
been looking at the Remington 870 serise. there are some that some with scopes on them.
one i really like is the Mossberg 500 pump action. i need to do some more research on what barrels i need, but i want a rifled barrel for slugs, and then i also need another one for turkeys i guess. i think more people have 3 barrels for their shotguns right?

i also wasnt it to take 2-3/4, 3" and 3.5"...dont want to be messing around with improper ammo if i run out for whatever reason.
basically bottom line is i want versatility and descent quality...Remington seems to have as long standing quality name, everyone has heard of them, which is why i may lean towards their products.

Hello there
have you look into Winchester SXP Defender, they are cheaper than 870 and Mossy 500, reliable and good to shoot, they also have an open choke so you can use slug and the other stuff. i am new as well and i was thinking about getting 870 express but someone introduced me to SXP defender, purchased it and i love it. good luck with your purchase and welcome to CGN
