Guys,

Thanks for all you input on my last reloading question regarding .303 British ammo. I now have a couple more...

I have bought a few hundred 100 grain .311 jacketed bullets that I want to use to make up some reduced plinking loads. I also have loads of Varget lying around. Any suggestions?

Also, I have bought some .314 gas checked lead bullets, and again, I am looking for a lighter load for plinking. Once again, any suggestions?

I have trolled the internet and seen some of the suggested plinking loads using different powders, and will buy whatever powder is the most appropriate. So do you have any suggestions for a bulkier powder that would be ideal for reduced loads?

Thanks.

There is an article by C.E. Harris called Cast Bullet Loads for Military Rifles. In the article he suggests some powders that work well for reduced loads, the most common being 2400 for the workhorse and Bullseye for the plinking.

I have followed the load data from the article and use the Workhorse load in my .303 Brit and SKS with good resaults. Haven't picked up any Bullseye to try the plinking loads yet, but will try it soon.

10 grains or less of unique should be good behind that 100 grain bullet. Sometimes hard to get accuracy though. If I were you, I'd find a buddy who shoots it in his pistol and borrow about 200 grains and see if it is even worth it.
