Hello!

I've been pointed here by nathanenge after chatting with him on a Land Rover forum about shooting in Canada. My wife and I are fairly new to shooting, but have completed our non-restricted and restricted courses and testing.

I started shooting many, many years ago in Air Cadets with a .308 Lee-Enfield. I did fairly well but didn't have the opportunity to shoot for years after. I got back into it again when visiting friends in Ohio. My wife had never even seen a gun up close and was curious as our hosts had a nice collection of pistols. We went to the range that day and she was hooked!

Now we're looking to make our first purchase. There's a terrific club not too far away with indoor and outdoor ranges. For a rifle we're looking at an AR-15 variant, and for a pistol I'm a Sig fan but my wife really liked a Beretta she saw at the local gun shop.

Any advice is always welcome!

Cheers,

Andrew

Hi Andrew, this is Kat, nathanenge's better half. Has your wife tried the Glock yet? I found I liked the Glock better than the Sig. Anyways, I'm sure nathan will write you soon.

Hi Kat! I've heard a lot about you over on Muddy Oval.

She hasn't actually fired one, but she handled one at a local shop and thought it was 'okay'. The real problem with Glock for us is that I'm left handed and she's right handed, and the Glock's mag release is a big honkin' thing that gets in the way if you're shooting opposite to the setup. For now we're going to be sharing! She was actually really into a Beretta 92S 9mm in terms of comfort and feel.

For sure, will do! I've been out there once with some members I met through a friend. It's a very nice looking range. I'd love to learn more and see more though. My wife hasn't been yet, and all I saw was the indoor range.

just don't forget to spend time at muddyoval. I know that Ontario CFO's are quite a bit different than BC CFO's, so I may not be able to help you out there, but if there's anything I can hook you up with let me know.
