I appologize in advance if this has already been asked 1 000 000 times or if its an irritating question. I have been shopping around for an AR-15 and I found a couple I like. Now I know you must be part of a club to buy handguns, but do you have to be part of a club to buy restricted rifles?? I was under the impression that you did not have to be part of a club to buy restricted rifles, and they can be used at a regular pit. All of the target shooting I do is in a sand pit (and I know theres no hunting allowed with an AR) and I do not belong to a club, will someone like frontier firearms sell me an AR?

Thank you in advance to anyone who can answer this

Restricted anything means you can only use it at a range. Use an AR at a gravel pit, kiss it and the rest of your guns goodbye. So to use the AR you need to shoot it at a range, so might as well join one. Otherwise look for the very expensive non-restricted black rifles such as a Tavor or Swiss Arms for example.

*Sighhhhhhhhhhhh*, where do I begin?

Have you done your CFSC/CRFSC course? If you haven't it would most likely answer the questions you pose, as well as correct your misunderstandings.

Firstly, All handguns and AR variants fall under the restricted category. You are only able to use them at a range. You can own restricted firearms without a range membership, you just won't be able to shoot them :(

Using a restricted firearm outside range facilities is ILLEGAL :(. There are serious consequences for committing such a crime. Not only is it irrational, it also tarnishes the name of law abiding gun owners. Please don't do it.

Look, kid, you have plenty of other options for non-restricted rifles, you'll be able to take them to the gravel pit, no questions asked!

Look into the Robinson Arms XCR

You have plenty of options, breaking the law is not one. Taking a restricted to the gravel pit is illegal, just like un-pinning a magazine.

BTW, welcome to the forum :D

Cheers,
Sand

Thank You very much for clearing that up! I was told otherwise by my instructor at my gun course!!! Which was the source of my confusion. I have been shooting my rifles for some time now but am brand new to the world of restricted rifles / handguns. I am a responsible gun owner and would not take stupid risks. Thank you once again for the information!

P.S. could you show me a link of price list for any of those non-restricted black rifles?? Thank you

if your instructor told you could shoot restricted rifles anywhere then i suggest you cotact your c.f.o. and report him. are you sure there wasnt some confusion on your part here?

One final question, I have my application and membership fee reafdy for a gun club, but they are not holding meetings until september .. If I were planning on joing a club would someone sell a restricted firearm? Or do I have to be a full member before anything can happen??

I don't know - but from what I've read on here you just need to tell them which club you plan on joining.

It's the LTATT that will be impossible without a club membership.

(Correct me if I'm wrong ... just going from what I've read on here.)

Well, I was very thorough with my questioning, and even after he gave me the information I asked him once again to confirm what i was hearing. However, I will never rule out the possibility that I made a mistake or misheard somthing.

(Sorry, I meant to add this to my other post.) can anyone confirm this? Thank you!
