Just thought I would finally check in. I have been on for a couple weeks reading and soaking in the info. I got a chance to write the challenge for the PAL last night and was successful so I will be the owner of a firearms hopefully sometime this summer.
 
thanks for the welcome. I was looking at the Remington 870 express combo (20" rifled barrel and 26" rib vented) but it was $630 at the local shop which was a bit above my range. Well luckily I did some looking around and found the exact same thing at another shop for $456... just gotta get my PAL now.
 
Oops, thought I did that already. I'm in Pembroke, the shop was Perkin's. I won't go back there for sure. The owner was very rude, he actually picked up the phone and called someone while I was talking to him. He also said he couldn't get a price on another gun for me because he would have to call someone
 
I wasnt impressed with Perkins prices :eek: , I checked out the stock for about 20 min and he didnt even try to talk to me....I guess I was lucky..lol

Deep river outfitters (Terry) is a much better environment , he is very helpfull and personable. there is also Al,s in Antrim , I bought my climbing treestand off him last year .
 
Thanks for the info, I'll give them a shot tomorrow. The other shop is Le Baron's in Ottawa. They were really helpful on the phone and told me a few other options that were similar (all 870 packages). I still have to give valley guns a call too since they have been closed since Thurs and don't open again until Tuesday.
 
Just picked this up today at a garage sale for $5 (minus the rifle)
