Hi guys,

I posted this in the handgun section, with little success. Since the Browning Hi-Power was used in WW2, here goes!

Actually I'm only putting forward the hypothesis that this is a Browning HP barrel, but I am looking for confirmation. Because, well, the only pistol I have is the Tokarev TT33, so my knowledge of other pistols is based on stuff I see on the Interwebz and in good old-fashioned books.

If not from a Browning HP, then... ?

And, any idea about the market value?

Thanks for any input,

Lou

It is a commercial barrel and post late 70's. You can see the joint where the barrel is brazed into the stub.... Also the cut on the right of the lug to prevent sear lever interference..And, a Belgian proof mark (Liege) as well.

It also suggests that somebody wanted a pretty barrel to show through the ejection port.

It usually takes more than polishing to remove a serial number.

And removing a s/n is a sick bird, anyway (ill eagle); nobody WE know would do such a thing!

I hope, anyway.

Nice barrel, Lou! Should make up into a very pretty pistol.

Thanks folks. Good stuff to know, I appreciate. I wonder about the s/n, the metal doesn't appear "thinned" anywhere; could a barrel have been made and sold without a s/n, simply as a replacement part?

Smellie, unfortunately I don't quite have the rest of the parts to make a complete pistol around this barrel! That was in a small lot of parts which I recently acquired. If anyone is in need of this barrel to fix his Browning HP, don't hesitate to send me a PM.

Lou
