I also have the M-16 clone.....except my issue is one of a different nature. I have reliably shot my gun for at least a thousand rounds and had great reliability from it thus far.

My issue is that you can #### the bolt and chamber a round and be ready to fire but the trigger is not responding. I have take the gun apart to see if anything is broken inside. I can see nothing broken.....not the firing pin, lever or see any missing pins or screws......

Any thoughts I can try?

I wouldn't discount the trigger being broken. It's made of poor quality metal and I've seen my share of broken safties (which on the M116 is part of the trigger piece).

Without seeing it in person I couldn't tell you what exactly is wrong with it.

I assume from your description that the striker is not releasing when the trigger is pulled. The trigger may not be re-engaging the sear, and is staying in the disconnected position. Have a look at the mechanism, there is a hole in the trigger housing thrugh which you may be able to see the engagement.
Be careful disassembling the trigger mechanism. The housing is either cast pot metal or plastic, and the assembly pins are splined to hold them in place. You can't tap them out and replace them indefinitely. I forget which end is splined, you don't want to drive them through the wrong way.
