Douglas can smell a cranky female a mile away. He dirt naps enough yogis that I'd trust his ###ing abilities.
dammit...that didn't come out right either.
AC...........there are no absolutes of course and even an experienced person can be fooled from time to time, but head shape and hump are the two most distinguishing features of male/female ID. The sows TEND to have longer finer noses and lower humps and are lighter built for their size. Along with longer, finer noses the head is usually quite narrow in comparison.
The bear in the picture screams sow to me, but watching her and her body language and actions would be necessary to determine for sure, and even then there is no for sure............Took another good look and that COULD be a juvenile boar, but my money would still be on a mature sow.

I guess Grizzlies are of the same type phenomenon as tornadoes ...seems it requires an "Official" (despite pictures) to confirm it is one !
