Another swamp yote

Now everyday is a different adventure. Today I get out at first light and the wind is blowing hard from the South West and I am limited as to what properties I can work. I head to one of the new places that I have already taken 2 yotes on and setup up along a thick woods along the swamp I have been hunting.

I get setup with the caller out and start calling. As I get into 5 minutes of calling I happen to look to my left and I spot a coyote way hell and gone out in the field and it has to be 400 yards. The coyote is crossing the field but is up wind of me and dont seem to hear the caller. He takes a few steps and stops a few more and stops and my guess is that with the thaw we are having along with the rain yesterday the water is all over the field and he is working around the water , only walking on the high points of snow where it is dryer.

I turn and setup and think that the wind is so bad and after one of the hunts last week I took aim 2 feet (Guessing) to the right up wind and let go. I see the yote drop to the ground and then hear the WACK of the bullet when it hits.

He goes down into a spin and I can see him flipping and flopping on the ground and think I need another shot so I place the scope once again 2 feet up wind and squeeze and I can see the yote drop still before I hear the impact of the bullet again.

Another swamp yote down again....

Thanks Nick7 for coming from Toronto to pick up the yotes !

One Dead Dog at a Time !!!
Way @ Go Adrian, thanks for keeping us posted on your success.
Where I live the yotes are protected by all the houses and soccer pitches we have here.
I do try and put the fear of humans into them when I see them on the side of the road hunting, and they do jump when I hit the horn.
What are you shooting?
I'm to lazy to go back and find your gun of choice...
Cal. model of gun/scope and bullet choice, no need to detail hold over ...

Wellllllll, you should git yer named changed to Adrian Hair for kripes sake.
Seems your gett'in 'nuff of it.
How many rounds yu got left?
You keep up with this nonsense and you'll be play'in darts and drink'in brewskis.

Nice job once again.

Can I ask if you set up with the wind in your face and the caller in front. Guys are saying now they have better luck with the wind on their back and the call in front to catch the coyotes circling down wind before coming in.
That is new to me??

Cross wind or down wind is best and you can set the calling unit up wind of you to allow them to move closer to you. This dog was up wind of a cross wind... 243 cal boyz

Thanks for the feedback it is greatly appreciated. :)
I like the 243 also and use mainly a 7600 pump for coyotes and nosler partitions. Bang flop when I get a chance which is not very often

Thats a job well done. Simcoe county has way to many coyotes. Always wanted to learn yote hunting but the only guys I see run dogs and thats Not my thing. However you seem to have got this down. Would you be interested in showing a young buck the ropes one day?
