Another TC Encore KABOOM - pics

Looks like some kind of mark in the rifling about 4" ahead of the receiver. Too bad we don't have a close-up.

Man. I'd sure hate to be at the bench to the right of that guy.....

I'm suprised Matchgrade Machining wouldn't have flute parameters defined by their engineers rather than by the customer. I assume barrel manufacturers have some ASME/ASTM codes they must adhear to.

Good to see they stand behind their product.

The T/C encore/contender has to be one of the most often inappropriately chambered and loaded rifles of all time. The RUM and WSM chambers don't have enough metal over the chamber. In the immortal words of Forrest Gump's mom, "Stupid is as stupid does".
Chambering an Encore in any RUM or WSM is stupid. Regards, Bill.

The Encore problem has been covered to a very large extent on thhe shortmags .org forrum, and Bill is right as far as metal goees, there is also an issue with the hinge pins.
Just not a good idea....

Some people are quick to blame Encore. Maybe (I don't say it is..) its a case of "whats your favourite recipe for ...whatever". With the type of questions asked on reloading loads on this forum, I am surprised that we don't see more of these.

Learned long ago not to argue with Bill on firearms. He's usually right.

Hope he's O.K.Those encores are a POS imo
Duh!... I spose you should be able to chamber those rifles with high pressure loads from inapropriate cartridges and against all common sense and manufacturers specifications and fully expect them to not Kaboom.....

I'm a bit worried here. I thought the new TC's were chambered in .416 rigby or Remington. I don't have specs in front of me, but I know the Rigby is a fatter case than the UM. Though if that were the case, it would be a lower pressure load. I wonder how that barrel holds up. And I agree, this is not an issue with the Encore rifle, rather the aftermarket barrel. The reciver looks to be in good shape after that. I wonder if he's going to reuse that empty case. :p
